Two coaches added to MFHS girls athletic department
SPECIAL TO THE PICAYUNE
MARBLE FALLS — Coaches Chelsey Heller and Whitney Holdbrook are joining the Marble Falls High School athletic department.
The two were approved for hire by the Marble Falls High School Independent School District on July 1 to be assistant girls basketball coaches.
Heller was the head softball coach and junior varsity basketball coach at Comanche High School.
“Chelsey has worked with some really good basketball coaches at three different schools, and she has experience working with coaches with different styles,” Marble Falls girls athletic coordinator Chris Jost said. “She is looking forward to our up-tempo offense and pressure defense style of play.”
Holdbrook is a recent graduate of Concordia University in Austin, where she played basketball for three seasons before being injured her senior year.
“Brittany is an intelligent, motivated young coach who will be an asset to our campus on the court and in the classroom,” Jost said.
The two new girls basketball assistants replace Frank Hughey, who took a position as girls athletic director at Early Independent School District, and Renee Grumbles, who left for a similar position at Leander Vandegrift High School.
“We hated to lose Frank and Renee, as they both did a great job for our program, but they each left for better personal situations,” Jost said. “I am excited about the new hires, and ready to get back to work with the kids this fall.”
The board also approved Eric Pehl for hire. He will join the Marble Falls Middle School girls’ coaching staff.
“I have known Eric a long time, and I know he will do a good job for us,” Jost said. “Eric is a good math teacher, a hard worker, and has experience coaching at both the high school and middle school levels. He is a nice addition to our coaching staff.”
Pehl replaces Teri Coffee, who took a similar position with the Dripping Springs Independent School District.
