Melvin Dean Marshall, 87, passed away June 16, 2013, at Bastrop Lost Pines Nursing Home. He was born June 12, 1926, in Belgrade, Neb., to Herman and Grace Marshall, who passed away when he was a young boy.
He was raised by foster parents Levi and Katherine Palmer in North Platte, Neb., where he graduated from high school and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944. He was a graduate of Midland College in Fremont, Neb., and was a businessman most of his life in Columbus, Neb., and Marble Falls.
He married Mary Jo Glenn on Aug. 21, 1948.
Preceding him in death were his parents; foster parents; sister Shirley Dodson; and wife Mary Jo.
Survivors include daughters, Susan Marshall and special daughter-in-law Patty Vannoord of Del Valle, Mary Riley of Buchanan Dam and Peg Marshall of Omaha, Neb.; granddaughter Stephanie Larsen and great-grandchildren Peyton and Piper of Marble Falls; grandson Eric Larsen and wife Marcela Larsen and great-grandchildren Emma and Kate of Oregon; and loving dogs, Rocky and Zoe.
