FROM STAFF REPORTS

MARBLE FALLS — Johnny Campbell, the Marble Falls Area EMS, Inc. director, knows a few things about emergency medical care. But he also understands the value of a good fish fry and a hearty bowl of chili.

He’ll share some of those insights during a visit with the KBEY 103.9 Radio Picayune Wake Up Show on April 30.

Show co-hosts Ed Chandler and Kay Baker will visit with Campbell about the Marble Falls Area EMS Fish Fry which takes place May 1 at the Blue Bonnet Cafe in Marble Falls from 4-8 p.m. This event — which occurs twice a year — benefits the MFAEMS.

Blue Bonnet Cafe owner John Kemper turns up the fryers for the good cause.

The meal includes all the fixings.

The fish fry has become a regular tradition in the community, but typically the spring fundraiser is held in March. However, officials postponed it until May 1 due to construction at the diner and area around it.

Campbell will fill listeners in on all the details.

And he may not just talk fish. Campbell is an accomplished chili cook in his own right.

If you didn’t know, the annual Howdy Roo Chili Cook-Off comes to town May 3-5 at Johnson Park in Marble Falls. There’s a good chance Chandler and Baker may persuade Campbell in to talking a little bit about this other Marble Falls tradition.

Along with fish fry and chili talk, Chandler and Baker will keep you laughing and smiling throughout the morning with good conversation and current events. So be sure to tune into KBEY 103.9 Radio Picayune each weekday morning between 6-10 a.m. for the Wake Up Show.
