Bystander wrestles gun away from distraught man

FROM STAFF REPORTS

KINGSLAND — A 33-year-old Granite Shoals man was referred to mental health officials after a bystander wrestled a .22 caliber rifle from him in a restaurant parking lot, according to a Burnet County Sheriff’s Office report.

The incident happened about 8 p.m. on April 12 in the parking lot of Spyke’s Barbecue on RR 1431 in Kingsland.

The report indicated the distraught man knew someone in the restaurant.

“He was outside in his vehicle. The rifle was taken from him by a bystander. He drove off into Llano County,” BCSO Capt. Dwight Hardin said.  “He was eventually located in Kingsland in Llano County [about an hour later].”

There were no other weapons and no injuries reported.
