OBITUARY: Fred Spencer Jr., 79, of Meadowlakes was Army veteran, enjoyed fishing

Fred Spencer Jr., 79, of Meadowlakes passed away March 4, 2013. He was born to Fred and Marguerite (Radka) Spencer on May 25, 1933, in Glidden, Texas.
Mr. Spencer proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He married Nancy K. Stone in Fort Worth, Texas, on Aug. 27, 1965.
Fred was a retired salesman for the Quaker Oats Co. and International Playtex Co. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and the Marble Falls Senior Activity Center and a volunteer at the Marble Falls Library Thrift Store. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and his grandchildren.
Fred is survived by his wife, Nancy Spencer of Meadowlakes; daughter, Christy D. Dunavant of Meadowlakes; son, Rusty Spencer of Corpus Christi; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; sisters, Marguerite Rogers, Annette Reus and Delores Ludolph, all of San Antonio, Joann Brechtle of LaVernia and Linda Smith of Carrollton; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Herman, Bobby and Johnny Spencer.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. March 6 at Putnam Funeral Home, 145 Texas Ave. in Kingsland, (325) 388-0008. A funeral service is 10 a.m. March 7 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Marble Falls. Burial is 2:30 p.m. March 12 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
