SAN SABA — The Marble Falls High School girls golf team won the San Saba Invitational on Feb. 28. The Lady Mustangs shot a team score of 404.

“I was hoping to break 400 today but, with the freezing temperatures at the start, for the girls to shoot 404 was an accomplishment,” Marble Falls head coach Lonnie Tackitt said. “(Assistant coach Wayne) Neely has done a great job teaching these young ladies how to play the game, and they are applying those lessons to their tournament play and getting great results. We still have a lot to improve on, but we are moving in the right direction.”

RESULTS: 2, Shelcee Clark 88 (new personal best); 3, Crystal Marroquin 105; 4, Peyton Fishbeck 105; 5, Kelsie Tackitt, 106; Megan Wooten beat the host school by 41 strokes.

QUOTABLE: “This also means that every girl in the program has medaled at least once this year, which is also very unique,” Marble Falls head coach Lonnie Tackitt said.
