Marble Falls names new defensive coordinator for football team
FROM STAFF REPORTS
MARBLE FALLS — Tony Salazar has been named the defensive coordinator for the Marble Falls High School football team, officials at Marble Falls Independent School District announced Jan. 30.
Salazar was the assistant head coach for one year and defensive coordinator for four years at Leander High School and served as the special teams coach at Dripping Springs for four years.
According to the release, MFISD board members delegated the authority to Superintendent Rob O’Connor to make the hire without the members having to vote on it before the regular meeting Feb. 18.
MFISD Public Information Director Bruce Peckover said the board will be told of the decision and is expected to formalize the hire Feb. 18.
Salazar will replace Keith Hendricks, who head coach Todd Dodge hired a year ago to be the defensive coordinator.
Hendricks is teaching full time at Falls Career High School, Peckover said, and isn’t a member of the athletic department anymore.
“My understanding is he has full-time duties,” he said.
