OBITUARY: Sherwood Steadman Sr., 83, of Burnet could repair anything

A memorial service for Sherwood “Woody” Steadman Sr., 83, of Burnet is 2 p.m. Feb. 2 at Oaks West Church of Christ with Clay Reading officiating. Steadman passed from this life on Jan. 26, 2013, at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Dec. 12, 1929, in Rochester, Vt., to Myron and Hazel Swyner Steadman.

He served his country in the National Guard for three years and then in the Air Force for four years.

He spent many years as a welder, an air-conditioner mechanic, an electrical contractor, a musician and a truck driver and helped out when anyone needed anything repaired.

He was a faithful member of Oaks West Church of Christ in Burnet for many years.

He married the love of his life, Dorthy Frazier, on Feb. 19, 1951, in Burnet, and they spent 63 wonderful years together.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Joe Don Steadman; and a grandchild.

He is survived by Dorthy; children Myron Steadman of Burnet, Sherwood “Hank” Steadman Jr. and wife Cheri of LaPorte, Carol Russell and husband Andy of Cedar Park and Pam Crumley and husband Danny of Burnet; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
