MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School boys soccer team will try to start the 2013 season the way they did in 2011 – by winning their own Winter Classic.
The tournament will be played Jan. 11-12 at Mustang Stadium, 2101 Mustang Drive.
After making the playoffs last year, the Mustangs will be more experienced in every position this season, which gives head coach Michael Nave a reason to be optimistic, he said.
“They know what to expect,” he said of his players. “You can talk about it all day long. They can put it in some context now. That’s one benefit – the guys know what to expect.”
Though the boys and girls soccer squads compete in District 51-4A, as opposed to 25-4A like other Mustang teams, the competition is virtually the same. Dripping Springs is the only opponent the other Marble Falls teams face that the soccer squads don’t.
“It’s one of the best districts in the state,” Nave said. “I have no reason to expect it to be different.”
