HOUSTON — Marble Falls High School football players Mike Richardson and Brennan Parker helped the American National Team earn a 28-0 win in the all-star game of the seventh annual Offense-Defense Bowl Week on Dec. 30.
Richardson, a quarterback, threw two touchdown passes more than 60 yards each and ran in a third.
He lined up under center more than in the shotgun, he said.
“It was more of a pro-style offense,” he said.
Parker played six different positions during the game, including tight end, fullback and H-back on offense and linebacker, defensive end and defensive tackle on defense.
He forced a fumble that the defense returned for a touchdown, he said.
But what each enjoyed more was playing with another Mustang.
“It was definitely better since I had someone there,” Parker said. “I had fun. We were down there meeting people, making new friends. The game was fun.”
The two were there for a week, participating in daily practices. The game was played in Reliant Stadium, the home of the NFL’s Houston Texans.
Now the two Mustangs, who are both seniors, will continue to look at college campuses and programs with the aim of playing football on that level.
