Frank Garson Grubbs
Frank Garson Grubbs, 69, passed away Jan. 3, 2013. He was born in Atlanta, Ga., to Harold and Frances Grubbs, who both preceded him in death.
Frank graduated from Forest Park High School in Forest Park, Ga., and received an Associate of Science degree from Southern Tech Institute in Marietta, Ga. After graduation, he was employed by IBM Corp. for 37 years in Atlanta; Rochester, N.Y.; Minnesota; and Austin.
After his retirement in 2000, Frank moved to the East Lake Buchanan community in Burnet County. He became an active member of the South Council Creek Property Owners Association, the East Lake Buchanan Community Association and the East Lake Buchanan Volunteer Fire Department. As the ELBVFD president, Frank was instrumental in building the department’s Station 3 and developing the current Emergency Services District.
Frank is survived by his wife of 27 years, Anne; children Tod Grubbs and Cynthia Hestand of Spicewood, Tracy Grubbs O’Shaughnessy and Erik of Pflugerville and Toma Grubbs and Amy of Round Rock; and stepchildren Maj. Jeffrey Shelnutt and Karyn of Fort Bragg, N.C., and Jason Shelnutt of Austin. He also is survived by grandchildren Timothy and Frankie O’Shaughnessy; Alysha, Nadine and Sebastian Shelnutt of Heilbron, Germany; and Jackson and Saydie Shelnutt. Also surviving him is his sister, Pat King of Teaneck, N.J.
A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at his home 2-4 p.m. Jan. 20, which would have been his 70th birthday.
