Joan “Dinney” Dudley, 60, of Highland Haven, Texas, passed away Dec. 22, 2012. She was born to Harold James and Joan Louise (Diehl) Weinberger on Aug. 16, 1952, in Lake Hopatcong, N.J.

Dinney owned and operated a day care for more than 21 years in Bishop, Texas. During the two decades she lived in the small town, she and her family remained active in church, school and civic organizations. After moving to Sonora, Texas, in 1999, Dinney established her day-care facility and became a reputable member of the community.

After relocating to Highland Haven, she continued her work with children in the area and at the Highland Lakes Methodist Church Day Care.

In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, fishing, teaching kids and spending time with her six grandchildren. She was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Kingsland, the Beading Club of Marble Falls and Highland Haven’s Lady Club.

Dinney is survived by her husband, William R. “Dick” Dudley of Highland Haven; daughter and son-in-law, Joy Ann and Brian Johnson of Magnolia; son, William Glen Dudley of Woodway; grandchildren, Lauran Diane Dudley, Abigail Ann Dudley, Alexander Nelse Johnson, Brianna Joy Johnson, William Taylor Dudley and Anastasia Elizabeth Johnson; brothers, Harold J. Weinberger and Steven Weinberger of Kingsville, Michael Weinberger of Katy and Jay Anthony Weinberger of Round Rock; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

A memorial service is 2 p.m. Jan. 5 at Putnam Funeral Home, 145 Texas Ave. in Kingsland, (325) 388-0008, with Father Bernard Hung officiating. All family and friends of Dinney are invited to attend.
