Faith Academy girls start, finish strong against Center Point
MARBLE FALLS – The Faith Academy of Marble Falls girls basketball team rolled to a 29-2 lead in the first quarter en route to a 70-36 victory against Center Point on Dec. 7.
"I thought we played well early," Lady Flames head coach Jerry English said. "All in all, we didn’t do a lot of the dumb things."
Those mistakes include careless fouls such as reaching in or committing many unforced errors, he said.
In addition, the Lady Flames scored about half of their points off fastbreak opportunities, something they have been working on thanks to using dummies in practice to help players anticipate contact.
"We have been working on trying to finish," the coach said.
Senior Bailey Brinkley dropped in 21 points, and English was happy about that because he wants a consistent 20-point scorer each game.
"My whole time here, we’ve had at least one 20-point scorer and another 17 and another 18," he said.
