MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School boys basketball team’s only victory during its own Subway Classic was against Fredericksburg 68-62 on Dec. 1.

Still, head coach Neil Laminack said he loved the energy and play his athletes showed in losses to Kyle Lehman and Liberty Hill, which finished second in gold bracket of the event.

Lehman won 81-72 on Dec. 1.

"We played very, very hard against two playoff teams," Laminack said. "I think that let all of us here know how good we’re capable of playing instead of playing down. Let’s strive to play at that level all the time."

He used two plays to demonstrate good team chemistry. The Mustangs scored on two fast breaks where all five players touched the ball and the ball wasn’t bounced.

"I head some guys saying things to each other, coaching each other in a positive way," the coach said. "The players’ big challenge now is learning how to be patient with the offense. The offense is designed for you to make a big play. We need to understand that and be patient."

Marble Falls welcomes Burnet to Max Copeland Gym, 2101 Mustang Drive, 8 p.m. on Dec. 4.
