Lady Flames with fifth-straight LBJ Invitational Tournament

JOHNSON CITY — The Faith Academy girls basketball team captured their fifth-straight LBJ Invitational Tournament title by beating the team that ended the Lady Flames’ 2011-2012 season.
The Lady Flames crushed San Antonio Lutheran 46-13 on Dec. 1, rolling to a 41-9 lead by the end of the third quarter. Lutheran reached the Class 2A state tournament of the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools last season.

"All in all, I think we’re starting to grow and mature as a team," head coach Jerry English said. "I think we’re starting to see strengths and things we need to work on. I definitely feel like we haven’t played our best ball. This has been an enjoyable year."

QUOTABLE: "We really played great defense for three quarters. We literally stopped everything they wanted to do. We talked a little better on defense and we rebounded the ball well enough to get to where we could run," English said.
