Lady Dawgs lose to No. 4-ranked Vista Ridge

BURNET — The Cedar Park Vista Ridge girls basketball team, No. 4 in Class 4A by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches, played up to its ranking in an 80-44 victory against Burnet on Nov. 27.

The only time the game was close was when the Lady Dawgs trailed 5-4 only 6 minutes 28 seconds into the contest. The Lady Rangers went on an 18-2 run in the next four minutes. Vista Ridge led 26-14 and the end of the first period and 41-25 at halftime.

The Lady Rangers shot 53 percent from the field, with 74 points coming from the lane, and out-rebounded the Lady Dawgs 31-24. Burnet committed 30 turnovers with Cedar Park nabbing 18 steals and only committing nine turnovers.

TOP PLAYERS: Bryanika Grady 11 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal; Sarah Poe 8 points, 9 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 blocks

ON OFFENSE: Points — Riley Scott 9, Lauren Beckwith 8, Victoria Solis 5, Makayla Adair 3; assists — Scott 4, Riana Bond 2, Shaylah Hullum 1; rebounds — Solis 2, Bond and Beckwith 1 each

ON DEFENSE: Steals — Scott 2, Adair and Bond 1 each; blocks — Solis 2

QUOTABLE: "Vista Ridge is one of the top teams in the state in Class 4A, and we felt like it would be a good test for us early in the season," Burnet head coach Mike Cavender said.

RECORDS: Burnet is 4-4.
