MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School boys basketball team are on a two-game winning streak after their 57-50 victory against Fredericksburg on Nov. 19.

The game went back and forth, though the Mustangs maintained a lead for the majority of the contest.

The Billies cut the deficit to 44-43 with 5 minutes 51 seconds left in the contest. But Mustangs senior guard Colin Edwards scored on a reverse lay-up and junior forward Ben Stripling added a 3-pointer to give Marble Falls a little cushion.

The duo also hit 4-of-6 free throws in the final 33 seconds for the win.

Head coach Neil Laminack said the Mustangs took what they’ve been taught to the court. That was important because some of the players, who have been playing football, have competed in more basketball games than they have attended basketball practice.

"Again, it’s just getting those guys acclimated to what we’re doing. It’s just the know-how piece," he said. "Again, we could sacrifice putting in a more athletic group, but they don’t know really what’s going on yet. … I think we’re going to have a very deep bench, I think we can play all 11 guys, I think we can play every player we have."

ON OFFENSE: Points — Colin Edwards 22, Joey Blackledge 13, Rey Baltazar and Ben Stripling 9 each

RECORDS: Marble Falls is 2-1.
