MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School girls basketball team faced an opponent very similar to District 25-4A opponents and struggled on both ends of the court against Plainview on Nov. 16.

Marble Falls’ 52-38 loss at the American Bank of Texas Tournament ended a three-game winning streak.

The Lady Mustangs’ performance against an opponent that stepped into passing lanes and wouldn’t allow Marble Falls to push the pace forced head coach Chris Jost into two timeouts in the first period.

Marble Falls hit a 3-pointer at the horn to end the first quarter and trailed 16-11. With 3 minutes 32 seconds left in the first half, the Lady Mustangs cut the deficit to 21-19 but never got any closer.

The Lady Mustangs ended the first day of tournament play with a 67-36 win against New Braunfels. Marble Falls raced to a 17-5 lead after the first period that went to 36-16 by the half.

"I thought we had to fight through some fatigue tonight," Jost said. "We had to dig down a little bit. I thought they handled that well."
