Copperas Cove 52, Marble Falls 39 on Nov. 6

MARBLE FALLS — The Lady Dawgs’ depth finally broke a close game into a double-digit victory. The Lady Mustangs played the pace they wanted and limited Copperas Cove’s opportunities thanks to steals and defensive rebounding to trail 19-18 at the half. But the Lady Dawgs outscored the Lady Mustangs 20-14 in the fourth quarter to seal the win.

Marble Falls missed 10 two-foot jumpers, was 21-of-40 from the free-throw line and committed 35 turnovers.

TOP PLAYERS: Sarah Stripling had 21 points, including 9-of-15 from the free-throw line.

ON OFFENSE: Haley Stephens 5 points, Reann Hall 3

QUOTABLE: "Free throws and layups — that’s the ball game. It’s something we’re going to have to work on," Marble Falls head coach Chris Jost said.

Faith 70, Blanket 41 on Nov. 6

BLANKET — The Lady Flames took a 20-7 lead in the first period and didn’t look back in the season opener for both teams. Faith Academy head coach Jerry English said he was pleased with the way his players pushed the tempo of the game.

"I thought our conditioning looked better than I expected," he said. "I thought the energy level was good."

TOP PLAYERS: Joanna Piatek 11 points and 9 rebounds; Taylor Denton 20 points; Bailey Brinkley 19 points and 4 rebounds

QUOTABLE: "I think for our first effort, it was definitely something to gauge where we are. I don’t think I’m shocked at the performance, but I guess you always hope it’s better than you expect," English said.

RECORDS: Faith is 1-0; Blanket is 0-1.
