Beatrice “Bea” Fuentes, 60, died Sept. 20, 2012. She was born on July 21, 1952, in San Antonio to Albert and Janie Escamilla.
She was a pillar of strength to her family. She suffered from heart problems since the age of 12. Surviving two open heart surgeries in her lifetime was a blessing in itself.
She was tough as nails but had a tender heart. She was dealt a tough hand to play in life, but she would always find a way to play a winning hand.
She was a hardworking person always trying to excel. She constantly persevered; when she set her mind to doing something, she would do it. She was a person with a good and big heart and always had a smile on her face.
She was a longtime employee of the Burnet Consolidated Independent School District, where she enjoyed being with all her coworkers and the students.
Survivors include brother Albert Escamilla Jr. and his wife Elizabeth Escamilla, daughter Marla and sons Edwin and Anthony; niece Griselda Huereca and her husband Ricardo and sons Ricky Marco and Carlos; many other family members and friends; and Roger Alonso, who was constantly by her side.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Hector Escamilla.
A funeral service was Sept. 24 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222. She will be cremated and laid to rest by family in San Antonio.
