Verl Marie Henderson, 91, of Kingsland and formerly of Oklahoma, died Aug. 29, 2012. She was born Jan. 19, 1921, to Louise (Colling) Thomas and Harley Ralph Thomas in Chicago.

She married Clifton Henderson on March 20, 1972, in Austin.

She retired in 1983 from the IRS after 19 years and was a member of Kingsland First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her brother Robert “Bob” Thomas and wife Gloria of Chicago; sister Donna Anderson of Chicago; children John F. “Jack” Bishop, William Thomas “Bill” Bishop and wife Juli, Barbara Louise Dobbs and husband Danny and George Ralph Bishop, all of Austin; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Harley Thomas and Wilbur “Bill” Thomas; sisters Laura Naeosen, Zelda Wessies and Mildred Swenson; and daughter Jill Pollack of Burnet.

A memorial service is 2 p.m. Sept. 1 at the Windwood Retirement Center in Kingsland  with the Rev. Bubba Stahl officiating.
