MARBLE FALLS — The Highland Lakes A&M Club has announced that tickets are still available to listen to Texas A&M University women’s basketball coach Gary Blair on Aug. 30.

“He’s just an incredible, inspirational speaker,” vice president of program Kara Stewart said.

Several local athletes attended his camp in June, including Stewart’s own daughter, Kenadee, who attends a Marble Falls elementary school. Marble Falls High School junior Teagan Hall and her sister, Reann, a freshman, also attended.

“I know kids who are perspective players and those wanting to play college ball might just want to get feedback,” the vice president said.

Though the local club is hosting the event, organizers said it’s not only for Aggies.

Anyone is welcome to attend, Stewart said.

In addition, organizers will televise the Texas A&M football game against Louisiana Tech, which is on ESPNU.

“So don’t worry about missing the game,” Stewart said.

The barbecue buffet is $12 for adults and $5 for children 10 and younger and starts at 5:30 p.m. at Lakeside Pavilion, 307 Buena Vista. The event will help raise money for scholarships, said Stewart, a 1998 graduate of the university.

To RSVP, contact Stewart at klstewart98@gmail.com or at (830) 385-1636.
