PFLUGERVILLE — Burnet High School senior guard Grant Cole participated in the first ever Central Texas Coaches All-Star basketball game April 28 as a member of the North team. The South won 102-92.

"Grant did very well and held his own against some very good 4(A) and 5A athletes, some of which Grant helped to defeat over his career at Burnet," Bulldogs head coach Roy Kiser said.

Cole’s first opportunity to score came from a backdoor cut and a couple of shot fakes under the basket, Kiser said. The guard was fouled and made both free throws. He also handled the ball very well and was able to pass for a number of assists, Kiser added.

"Grant’s selection to play in this game is well deserved because of the hard work he has put in to become the player that he is today," Kiser said. "As he was playing, I thought of all of the things we have asked him to do since we moved him to the varsity as a sophomore on a senior-dominated team."

While at Burnet, Cole helped the Bulldogs win bi-district championships and won back-to-back all-region selections by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.

"(He) became a major scoring threat in his career," Kiser said. "I also couldn’t help but think how proud I was that Grant was wearing a Burnet uniform because he represented us all so well."
