Youth swimmers can try out for Marble Falls Tsunami May 1
MARBLE FALLS — Swimmers ages 4-18 are invited to try out for the Marble Falls Tsunami, the city’s swimming team May 1.
The tryouts are 4 p.m. at the city pool, 305 Buena Vista.
Coach Martha Montoya said swimmers must be able to swim one length of the pool to make the team.
She has scheduled at least two meets and clinics in conjunction with Longhorn Aquatics, a year-round swimming and diving program offered by the University of Texas at Austin.
“We’re trying to involve older kids, not just the younger ones,” Montoya said. “This is a great way to get kids into swimming.”
Swimmers will be taught all four strokes — freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.
The registration fee is $90. The monthly cost for beginners is $30, mid-level swimmers will pay $40 a month and an advanced swimmer is $50 a month.
“That’s normal,” Montoya said of the fees. “Not only are you going to learn every single stroke, you’re going to fun races.”
The season ends Aug. 31.
