LEANDER — After two stagnant games, the Marble Falls High School softball team looked to stay atop of the District 25-4A standings April 5.

After a 10-0 victory against Leander Rouse, the Lady Mustangs (16-8, 7-2) re-established themselves as a team to be reckoned with. “It was big, just for confidence,” head coach Tino Salazar said. “And fortunately, we didn’t have to get to the last inning to score. We kind of did what we’re supposed to do.”

Sophomores Amanda Thomas, Naomi Macias and Skylar Riley each had two RBIs, with Riley’s the result of a two-run homer in the seventh inning.

Marble Falls scored in five of the seven innings. The majority of the runs came in the fifth inning with four.

Junior pitcher Alicia Macias earned the win and gave up only four hits.

The victory means the Lady Mustangs can enjoy the Easter holiday and a bye April 10 in first place in district play.

“I felt like we were supposed to win this game,” Salazar said. “It felt good to get it.”

Marble Falls will welcome Cedar Park High 7 p.m. April 13 at Scearce Field, 2101 Mustang Drive in Marble Falls.
