Bulldogs cruise in win to remain in third place
BURNET — The Burnet High School baseball team was simply on fire in its 12-2 win against Lampasas April 5 in contest that ended in the fifth inning.
The Bulldogs (13-6-1, 3-2) remain in third place in District 25-3A. Senior pitcher Jacob Pollard gave up one earned run off two hits in the win.
But what impressed head coach Tim Perkins was the Bulldogs’ hitting. They recorded 11 hits.
“We hit the ball well,” he said. “We stayed consistent.”
Though the Bulldogs made it look easy, Perkins said he wasn’t taking anything for granted.
That’s because the district is very competitive, he said. Salado, Burnet, Lampasas and Llano have beaten each other by a single run.
“When you’re comparing scores, it could have been closer,” Perkins said. “We try to stay focused and concentrate on stuff we don’t do well.”
Burnet will travel to Salado High School, 1880 Williams Road in Salado, 7 p.m. April 10.
