Burnet girls basketball players receive state, region honors

BURNET — Several Burnet High School girls basketball players received recognition for their contributions during the 2011-2012 season.

Senior guard Leah Cotton was named all the Class 3A all-state team by the Texas Girls Coaches Association, which doesn’t create an all-region team.

Cotton and senior guard Kati Maldonado and junior Bryankia Grady were named to the all-region IV girls basketball team by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.

TABC selected Cotton and Maldonado for the second year in a row, while Grady was named to the team for the first time.

"These young ladies have excelled in Burnet athletics and the Lady Dawg basketball program at the highest level," Burnet head coach Mike Cavender said. "It is an honor to be selected to represent Burnet High School in such a manner."
