Five Faith swimmers record personal bests at state meet
SAN ANTONIO — Five Faith Academy swimmers dropped at least a second off their personal best times while competing at the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools State Meet Feb. 18.
RESULTS: 200-yard freestyle, Shelby Fairleigh, 2:32.49 (2 seconds faster), 14th; 500-yard freestyle, Fairleigh, 6:50.59 (8 seconds faster), 7th; 50-yard freestyle, Molly Marrs, 31.09, 12th, Christina Lykken, 32.91, 14th, Tori Roeder, 33.24, 15th; 100-yard butterfly, Roeder, 1:28.58 (5 seconds faster), 12th; 200-yard medley relay, Faith (Fairleigh, Roeder, Marrs, Lykken), 10th, 2:33.01 (2.31 seconds faster); 200-yard freestyle relay, Faith (Marrs, Lykken, Roeder, Fairleigh), 2:09.17 (4 seconds faster), 7th.
QUOTABLE: “We got in the water and did what we wanted to do — we placed high at the state level. The girls deserve recognition,” Faith coach Martha Montoya said.
