Lady Flames complete another successful district campaign
CEDAR PARK — Six consecutive years of winning the district title without losing a game also means the Faith Academy girls basketball team pushed its winning streak to 69 Feb. 9.
The Lady Flames (29-4, 12-0) defeated Cedar Park Summit 64-14 to end the regular season.
Head coach Jerry English noted his players scored in a hurry many times.
"They had a hard time getting back," he said. "All in all, we did some decent things."
Faith continued to perform the tasks — rebounding well on both ends of the floor, limiting turnovers and scoring free throws — that signaled the athletes are ready for the trials to come, the coach said.
English let reserves take over early in the third period.
"This game was one of those where you didn’t have butterflies in your stomach," he said. "I thought we did enough well where we got something out of it. Now you have to go forward and get into a playoff mode."
The Lady Flames will host the bi-district contest Feb. 14 at The Fire Pit on the Faith campus, three miles east of Marble Falls off RR 1431.
They will learn later who they play and will set a tip-off time.
