Marble Falls junior varsity boys lose to Cedar Park

MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School junior varsity boys basketball team lost to Cedar Park 62-48 Jan. 27.

Early in the first quarter, Mustangs coach Jeremy Gamez looked to his bench to provide a much needed spark. Sophomores Jordan Wright, Jose Navarro, Marcus Perez, Keith Jerome and Ben Stripling boosted the energy level and created a rhythm to get the Mustangs going.

By the second quarter, the squad seemed to find their feet, but the Timberwolves continued to apply pressure on both ends of the court.

Marble Falls had no answer for the Cedar Park offense. Junior Isiah Carson scored nine of his team-high 22 points in the first half, and sophomore Aidin Parnell chipped in six. Stripling added four points, while Navarro scored two and Jerome one. The Mustangs trailed 34-22 at the half.

The second half started much like the first. The Mustangs continued to dig themselves a hole, scoring seven points in the third quarter.

The fourth period saw a return to the level the team has been accustomed to for much of the season. The Mustangs scored 19 points and cut a 20-point lead down to a 14-point final margin.

Carson led all Mustangs with 21 points, adding a team-high nine rebounds and a steal. Parnell finished with 10 points to go with one steal, one rebound and an assist. Stripling scored nine points, had two rebounds, an assist and a blocked shot. Jerome and Wright added three points each, with Jerome pulling down eight rebounds and recording two steals. Wright added an assist and a rebound. Navarro scored two points, grabbed two rebounds and had a steal. Sophomore Steven Petrosky added a rebound, and junior Nick O’Connor added a steal.
