Smithson Valley shuts out Lady Stangs soccer squad
SMITHSON VALLEY — The Marble Falls High School girls soccer team lost to Smithson Valley 7-0 Jan. 17.
The Lady Mustangs (0-4-1) had only three starters available. Other starters were benched because of injury or not being at practice.
Head coach Paulette Moczygemba said she used three junior varsity players to fill out the varsity lineup.
In addition, she wanted her players to use a different system and installed a 4-5-1 look.
“We held them to two goals in the second half,” Moczygemba said. “I think this builds your character.”
Marble Falls is playing in the Hays Consolidated Tournament that started Jan. 19. They finish pool play against Hays 4 p.m. Jan. 20 at Bob Shelton Stadium, 21003 I-35 in Kyle.
