MARBLE FALLS — If fans want to know just how devastating the injuries to the Marble Falls High School football team were, they can check the all-District 25-4A teams.

The Mustangs had seven players named to the 2011 all-district team, 12 fewer than in 2010.

That’s a tough blow because Marble Falls coaches believed this season’s squad had a real chance at surpassing what the 2010 one accomplished.

Last season’s Mustangs finished fourth in district play and were beat in the second round of the playoffs by Boerne Champion, which marked the second time the Chargers defeated Marble Falls in as many tries.

This season’s Mustangs had a three-game winning streak, including winning at nemesis Burnet in Week 3. They took Champion to five overtimes before losing.
