Charles Elzie ‘Boogie’ Morris
Charles Elzie “Boogie” Morris, 76, of Mason died Dec. 9, 2011. He was born to Elzie and Dovie (Hudson) Morris on Sept. 21, 1935, in Mason County.
He was a rancher and a true cowboy. He had a fondness with animals that only he and the animal could understand. Being an outdoorsman, he loved to hunt, fish, camp and ride horses. He worked on ranches in New Mexico, Colorado and West Texas. He would also teach high school FFA students ranch work and take them on trail rides. He never met a stranger and loved to dance.
He also was a self-taught reader and started reading full time in 1996. He hadn’t put down a book since. He also became quite the critic on authors’ writing styles and talents.
Survivors include Donna Warren and husband Albert of Springtown; son Roy Morris of Mason; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; best friend Laquita “Dee Dee” Feidler of Castell; and siblings Harill Morris of Tyler, Fae Danz and Ormae Priess, both of Mason, and Estelle Ross of Ogelsby.
He was preceded in death by son Franklin Elzie Morris.
