SAN ANTONIO – Big plays Friday helped catapult the Marble Falls Faith Academy Flames over San Antonio The Winston, 83-38.

The Flames Jason Byrd put Faith on the board with an 18-yard run two minutes into the game. He sealed the deal three quarters later when freshman Hanner Shipley hit him for a 35-yard touchdown reception. That score pushed Faith more than 45 points ahead of The Winston, enacting the mercy rule.

With the victory, the Flames finish the regular season with a 3-2 district record securing a third-place finish.

This sets up a showdown in the coming week — most likely Saturday, Nov. 12 — against Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools 2010 Class 2 runner-up Dallas The Covenant.

Faith entered the game against The Winston already in the playoffs. The Winston, however, was battling for their playoff life – giving the San Antonio squad a strong reason to win.
