LIBERTY HILL — Burnet High School ended a frustrating 2011 campaign with its fourth district loss Friday.

The Bulldogs lost 65-33 on the road against playoff-bound Liberty Hill at Panther Stadium.

Things started fairly well for Burnet. Both teams played to a 7-7 tie through the end of the first quarter.

Liberty Hill halfback Cory Ferrell ran 17 yards to put the Panthers on the scoreboard first. Wide receiver Jadon Boatright booted the extra point.

Burnet responded with a 15-yard touchdown run by halfback Demone Belmarez. Kicker Chris Calhoun kicked the point after.

A pair of long completions from quarterback Nick Melvin to tight end Jordan Bernard helped set up the score. Also, a long run back on the kickoff by halfback Zach Maldonado put Burnet on the Liberty Hill 38-yard line.
