BURNET — After a week of rest thanks to a bye, the Burnet High School football team will take aim at capturing the District 25-3A title.

But standing in the way is a Lampasas team that’s more confident than the one that lost 46-21 to the Bulldogs (3-2) in last season’s division opener. The game is 7:30 p.m. at Bulldog Field, 1000 The Green Mile.

Burnet took a giant step toward a playoff spot that night, adding to a winning streak that had reached eight straight before it eventually was snapped in the regular-season finale against Liberty Hill.

But then, head coach Doyle Walker predicated the Bulldogs would have to force at least three three-and-outs against the Badgers (4-1). This year, he believes it will take six.
