LLANO — Don’t let a 1-4 record fool you. That’s the advice from Llano High School football coach David Yeager.

“Our kids are playing hard,” he said. “We’re just not executing very well. We’ve had injuries. Hopefully, we’ll get some kids back.”

The Jackets have started at least seven sophomores in their first year of varsity football.

Add to that facing opponents such as Bangs (35-13), Bandera (35-33), Brownwood (49-10) and Fredericksburg (47-23), and Llano has had a tough nondistrict stretch.

The Jackets are a little behind the learning curve, Yeager said.

“We’ve had some injuries that have hurt us,” he said. “Every week, it seems like it’s serious injuries. Right now, it’s been two or three weeks with kids out.”
