Hill Country Colts holding tryouts Oct. 8
MARBLE FALLS — The Hill Country Colts, a semipro football team, will conduct tryouts at Johnson Park at 9 a.m. Oct. 8.
Cost is $40. Athletes will participate in the 40-yard dash, shuttle, standing-leap jump and position-specific drills at the park, 230 S. Ave. J.
Head coach Dennis Wilke said he’d like to have a roster of 60 players.
“We have a few of our good players coming back,” he said, “and all of our offensive line.”
Former Burnet High School running back Jathan Craig, defensive end Dustin Kuehler and linebacker Alex Wallace and Llano linebacker Cory Wunderlich are expected to return.
The Colts also will have a new quarterback this season. Ryan Akin, who played for the ATX Tigers and was a member of the San Marcos Renegades, will join the Colts this season, but the team is still searching for more prospects, assistant coach Jimmie Gibbs said.
