MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School sophomore football team lost to Cedar Park Vista Ridge 21-14 on Sept. 22.

The Rangers got on the board first after scoring a safety in the second quarter.

But the Mustangs came back, ending a nine-play drive with a 4-yard touchdown run by Tamarian Torns. Tyler Perry added the two-point run for an 8-2 halftime lead.

Midway through the third quarter, Vista Ridge retook the lead with a touchdown and extra point to make it 9-8 and then added another two points with a safety when the Mustangs’ snap went out of the end zone.

With two minutes left in the third, the Rangers nailed a field goal to go up 14-7.

Quarterback Steven Petrosky capped a 15-play drive with a quarterback sneak that chewed up eight minutes for a 14-14 tie.

The Rangers took the remaining 2:39 and scored for the win.

Linebacker Josh Thompson was the outstanding defender, while Petrosky and left tackle Chance Armstrong were the offensive standouts.

The Mustangs will play at Leander Rouse at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 29.
