MARBLE FALLS — If anyone had any doubts that football builds character, all they need to do is watch the Marble Falls High School junior varsity squad.

Coming off a disappointing loss the previous week, missing their starting quarterback and dealing with losing players to varsity, the Mustangs came away with a hard fought 14-14 tie against the Cedar Park Vista Ridge Rangers on Sept. 22. Yeah, ties are like kissing your sister. This one, however, could be season saving.

The Mustangs turned over the ball four times. Two lost fumbles led to both Vista Ridge scores. Two interceptions halted promising drives. And a 15-yard penalty stopped another.

Things quickly went south for the Mustangs. On their second possession of the game, Vista Ridge picked up a fumble and ran in for the game’s first score. After the successful extra point, the Rangers led 7-0.
