Marble Falls 7th-grade C football team blanks Lampasas
LAMPASAS — The Marble Falls Middle School seventh-grade C football team stomped Lampasas 38-0 on Sept. 22.
After quarterback Kameron Ellenberger ran the ball deep into Badger territory on the Ponies’ first offensive possession, fullback Billy Herrera punched it in from 2 yards out to put the Ponies on the board. Tailback Taylor Marshall added the two-point conversion to make it 8-0.
After some great defensive play, the Ponies took over on offense and methodically moved the ball into the red zone with outstanding blocking from the offensive line, coach Joel Herring said.
Ellenberger capped the drive with a 15-yard touchdown. Herrera scored the two-point conversion to put the Ponies up 16-0.
After another defensive stand, the Pony offense struck again on a 60-yard scamper by Jonathan Abney. Herrera added the two-point conversion to make it 24-0 at the half.
Matthew Cunningham recovered a fumble on the opening kickoff and rumbled 40 yards for the score. Herrera added the two-point conversion to put the Ponies up 32-0.
After another stellar performance by the defense, the Ponies hit pay dirt for the final time when fullback Anthony Segovia scored from 20 yards out to make it 38-0.
“The Pony defense played great the entire game and did a wonderful job of keeping the Badgers’ offensive attack in check,” Herring said.
Offensive standouts were Ellenberger, Marshall, Abney and Herrera. Linemen standouts included Tanner Lewis, James McCrocklin, Trevor Felps and Jeffrey Atkison.
Defensive standouts were Matt Cunningham, Anthony Segovia, Robert Beltran and Brandon Reyes.
