MARBLE FALLS — Former Marble Falls High School basketball player Shane Minnick will take a redshirt season at Tarleton State University for the 2011-2012 school year.

Minnick, who graduated in June, averaged 10 points and 10 rebounds a contest as a three-year letterman for the Mustangs from 2008-2011.

The 6-foot 10-inch center had been talking to coaches at Tarleton State since the end of the high school season. He is majoring in architecture.

He said he owes Mustangs head coach Bruce Etheridge much thanks for helping him reach this point.

“A hundred percent,” he said.

Etheridge said he was happy to assist Minnick, noting the center played a key role when the Mustangs advanced to the playoffs for the first time since the 2004-2005 season.

“We wish Shane all the best,” he said.
