Wyoming sports hall inducts principal

MARBLE FALLS — One of Marble Falls Middle School Principal John Schumacher’s assistant administrators scanned a black and white photo of the 1986-1987 University of Wyoming men’s basketball team.

“Hey John, where are you?” Assistant Principal Bruce Peckover asked. “Oh, there you are. I didn’t recognize you.”

“Yeah, I had hair then,” Schumacher said, running his hand over his close-cropped hair.

Both men laughed.

In the photo, Schumacher sits in the front row alongside the rest of the coaching staff. Behind them stands the basketball players who captured both the Wyoming and national spotlight by battling their way into the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA men’s national championship bracket.
