Edith Sue (Alexander) Shields
Edith Sue (Alexander) Shields, 88, of Burnet died Sept. 20, 2011. She was born in Seneca, S.C., on June 30, 1923.
She attended business school in Raleigh, N.C., and then worked as a secretary in Washington, D.C., for the War Department during World War II.
She attended the University of Texas at Austin, where she met her husband Robert C. Shields. They were married for more than 50 years before he died in 2008.
Survivors include her daughters Rana Shields and husband Mike Leggett of Burnet and Rene Shields and husband Gary Napper of Austin; grandson Dan Tilly and wife Angela of Raleigh, N.C.; granddaughter Casey Leggett Cooper and husband Matt of Cedar Park; and great-grandchildren Mason, Reed, Jared, Ben and Connie.
A graveside service is 2 p.m. Sept. 24 at Post Mountain Cemetery, located at Texas 29 and Southland Drive west of Burnet.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
