Don Ross ‘Dugan’ Johnson
Don Ross “Dugan” Johnson, 79, died Sept. 17, 2011, in Austin. He was born Aug. 14, 1932, to Faye (Hart) and Willie Dow Johnson in Girard County.
He served in the Army during the Korean conflict. Gail Gregory became his wife Dec. 16, 1955, in San Marcos.
He was a Pioneer Irrigation pipeline contractor, rancher and cattleman. He was a member of McCulloch Masonic Lodge No. 273, Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and the American Legion-Llano. He was a graduate of Southwest Texas State University at San Marcos, earning a bachelor’s degree.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, survivors include daughter Eva Doran of Cedar Park; sons Tom Johnson and wife Becky of Marion and Donny Johnson and wife Teri of Liberty Hill; grandchildren Shannon, Shea, Skye, Kailee, Mandi and Darby; great-granddaughter Shawna Elizabeth; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Shawna Johnson; and brothers Berry T. Johnson, Norman Johnson and Billy Jack Johnson.
A graveside service is 4 p.m. Sept. 19 at Oxford Cemetery in Oxford with the Rev. Stan Troy officiating.
Pallbearers include nephews Berry T. Johnson Jr., Billy Charles Johnson, Billy Karl Johnson, Jackie Don Johnson, Larry Johnson and Gregory O’Rourk.
