MARBLE FALLS — When the Faith Academy football team decided to play Fredericksburg Heritage in the annual Battle of the Rock, few Flames could have envisioned a series dominated by the Eagles.

The Flames (2-0) beat Heritage 16-8 in the first contest played between the two schools.

But the Eagles reeled off six straight victories in a streak that was snapped last season when the Flames came back to win 65-62.

That game was played in Marble Falls. This year’s contest will be played in Fredericksburg at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 9.

And while Faith head coach Russ Roberts is happy to be 2-0, he believes Heritage will be the true measuring stick on what his team can really do.

The Eagles’ loss was to Dallas The Covenant 61-30 in the first week, but they came back to beat San Antonio FEAST 24-6

The Covenant ended the Flames’ season a year ago in the second round of the playoffs.
