Henry Lee Poe
Henry Lee “PaPa” Poe, 74, died Aug. 24, 2011, in Savannah, Ga. He was born Aug. 21, 1937, to John MacDonald Poe and Vallie Poe as the youngest of several siblings.
He served his country in the Navy.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. One of his favorite pastimes was the yearly family reunions. He was able to cook, spend time with all his family and reminisce about the good ol’ days.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Alitha Dell Roden Poe of Savannah, Ga.; daughter Nita Poe Maugham of Marble Falls; son David Wayne Poe of Savannah, Ga.; son James Keith Poe and wife Sherra of Burnet; granddaughter Jaclyn Lea Milum and husband James of Buchanan Dam; granddaughter Amber Dell Murry and husband Brandon of Fort Worth; grandson Dustin James Poe and wife Emily of San Diego, Calif.; grandsons Dalton Lee Poe and Jordan Chase Poe, both of Burnet; granddaughter Sarah Elyse Poe of Burnet; great-granddaughters Tailor Michelle Milum and Adelynn Grace Murry; great-grandson Andrew Wayne Milum; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
He is preceded in death by his five brothers; three sisters; four half-brothers; two half-sisters; and his parents.
A visitation was Aug. 26. A service was Aug. 27 at Hoover’s Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Dwayne Edwards officiating. Interment followed at Hoover’s Valley Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ronnie McGlothlin, Jonathan Poe, Joe Mac Roden, John Williams, Cliff Linnens and Dalton Poe. Honorary pallbearers were Donnie McGlothlin, Barry Smith, Brandon Murry, James Milum, Scott Williams, Justin McGlothlin, Dustin Poe and Jordan Poe.
