J.W. “Jake” McCaslin
J.W. “Jake” McCaslin, 92, of Tow died in his home Aug. 19, 2011. He was born May 19, 1919, in San Marcos. He was a decorated veteran of World War II.
He married Rachel Lenora Kyle Oct. 23, 1938. They were married for almost 60 years, spending their best days hunting, fishing and enjoying their family.
Survivors include his daughter and caregiver Gerry Lee Watson of Tow; son John William McCaslin and wife Jodie of Salem, Ore.; his brother Everett McCaslin; sisters Waldene Atkinson, Mary Blackmon, Jeanette Benningfield and Alice Bryant; grandchildren Ben Watson Jr. and wife Denise, John Watson and wife Shelby, Judy Mauldin, Deidre McCaslin, Shauna Purcell and husband David, Katy Torkornoo and husband Benaiah and Aidan McCaslin; 16 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1997; his sister Bernice Polvado; and brother Marvin McCaslin.
Graveside services were Aug. 22 at Bluffton Cemetery, Bluffton.
Pallbearers included Todd Mauldin, Chase Watson, Jonathan Watson, Kramer Watson, Gene Courtney, Dalton Huffstuttler and honorary pallbearer Gage Watson.
