Tsunami ready to make a big splash

MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls Tsunami swim team will make its 2011 debut June 25 when the squad travels for a meet against the Burnet Water Dogs and Lago Vista.

The meet begins at 9 a.m. at Galloway Hammond Recreation Center, 1601 S. Water St. in Burnet.

Head coach Martha Montoya said she has 30 swimmers on the squad who are divided into three divisions: beginners, intermediate and advanced. They vary in age from 5 to 15 years old.

“We’ve only been in the water for three weeks,” Montoya said. “We’ll be very competitive. I expect we’ll do fair. We have a lot of first-time swimmers. This is a good first time for the young ones.”
