David Thedford, 63, of Tow died June 1, 2011, at his residence. He was born in Jacksonville on Aug. 23, 1947, the youngest son of Retus and Billie Thedford.

He served as a Marine in the Vietnam War. As a decorated veteran, he was presented the Purple Heart along with many other awards and decorations. After being honorably discharged, he spent 40 years in the oil industry working around the world. Survivors include his wife Petra Thompson Thedford; two daughters; five stepchildren; 15 grandchildren; two sisters; and a brother.

Visitation was June 4. A service was June 5 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300.

Interment followed in Llano City Cemetery with military honors.

Pallbearers were Jay Barr, Terry Barr, Roland Rode, Josh Rode, Benny Hoffman and Jose Ortiz
